This instrument features 0.009 Steel strings. i tuned them to G and D. Of course, if I had lower strings (nickel wound, etc.), the sounds would be quite different and it would be easier for me to tune the strings to the lower notes of G and D. One cool thing about a two-stringed cigar box guitar--i dont need anything to guide the strings to where they need to go. Some of my previous cigar box gutars have had guide screws to make sure the sttrings did not get too close to each other, cross or overlap on the fretboard.

I like to raise the neck off the top of the box with wood scraps or washers, so that the box can vibrate freely across the top?
