I changed to nylon strings for lower tension and a sweet voice. Original guitar had steel strings.

Thanks. The tuners actually came on the neck. It is from a "First Act" chinese made guitar I found at a thrift shop for 1.25. I put new gears on from another just like it, also for 1.25. I'd like to find some more of those.
