The "Maxx" cigar box amp.

Just finished. Cork feet, old speaker grille from some kind of old car. Gain control circuit. I've decided to cut out the volume knob part of the circuit. It didn't really seem to do much and your instrument volume control does the trick just fine. And my favourite part of this build, incorporating the indicator light inside the speaker. It has a juicy mean green glow.

  • Sounds like you have worked out the kinks, how about a shopping list LOL!

  • Also, speaking from experience. Do not buy electronic components from ebay and such. You just don't know what quality you're getting. You're better off finding a local electronic supply or ordering from a reputable online supplier like Jameco
  • You can buy a kit though. C.B Gitty has them. I think there's links to it on this site. Sourcing your own parts costs a little less than the kit. And it's a little more rewarding building get it from scratch. You don't need to have serious soldering skills or much electronics knowledge. Trial and error and patience is all it takes to get it right.
  • No. I source my own components and build each circuit myself. It's based on the Little Jem circuit you can find online, with a couple tweaks. I guess maybe I should draw it up one day and post it.
