sweet old thread box

Just letting y'all see it before I start cutting. It looks all cracked and tired from the outside, but I filled them all with titebond already. Box is 10.75x5.25x2.75 and pretty stout, all things considered. Solid wood; no ply. I can't tell what kind of wood. It smells like old junk.

  • The top is old growth oak of some sort.  So it has an eighth thick quartersawn oak top. The sides are 1/4 thick and they work like mahogany or poplar. Very fibrous and soft, but I don't know what it is. The oak gave itself away with the grain and pores and just how tough it is.
