Please Help

I'm trying to make this into an amp.I soldered the ground wire to the volume pot and the positive to the middle 'prong' on the volume pot.After doing this I can still hear the radio as well as the guitar.Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong please.

    Which bands can it select? Does it have like Van Halen backing tracks?
