Zack, I disagree. my fretless slide has a straight neck and I have no buzz. Granted the tuners don't stick up but are horizontal and the string bends well enough. I do make scarfed necks of which I use a 13deg angle. I think both designs would would work good if the strings bend over the nut well enough. I have had buzz at the nut before but that was from a poorly notched nut. - WY
As designed your scarf cut will give you a buzz in the 1st couple'a frets, rendering them useless when fingered but fine on slide. This happened on my resonator. what you have to do is scarf the neck so the headstock piece is under the overall neck. If you take your design as is and stick the head under the neck so the cut isn't shared in the ftretboard area you'll be golden.
