I don't know. The sound just doesn't feel right. I might have to make some holes in the tin or some other adjustments. I wanted it to be more banjo-like and thus make it sound higher, but now I am going to go down and try to put an E string on it. I have used na E on the first diddley nad it sounds just fine.
Have you checked out this website: http://www.onestringwillie.com/id2.html I made a couple of these and used music wire (probably a little too heavy gauge), but I have been interested in making one like you have here. I wondered how a guitar string would sound…do you think you don't like the sound because of the heavy gauge of string (i.e. would you go lighter gauge or heavier)?

I have been using some old used guitar strings so far. This one is strung with an A string. I don't like the sound though.
I can't tell really, are you using music wire or guitar strings for your DB's?
