  i have had a lot of trouble with my spokeshave..it seems to bounce a lot, i seem to be more comfortable with a draw knife

  Wow that is nice of you to say..... but really it is done with the usual machines and the handwork is done with a spoke shave, rasp, sand paper, scrapers.... The technique is covered in any number of books on guitar building really it is doable... You can get a lot of it done with sand paper used like you were buffing shoes.....
