Yes it was. Especially practised the skill of colouring with oxide and oil on a piece of pine. It's difficult to get the colour everywhere the same. After the varnish had dried I used a car waxing product to polish. Works great.
Yes, I'm very pleased with it. The most difficult part you wouldn't expect, but that was getting the colour right. It's some kind of oxide that you have to mix with oil.
