It sounds real low, and takes some work to glean the higher tones you get with-out it plugged in, I guess if I wanted a clean ampified sound I'd play it acoustic with a mico-phone, and if I wanted to have a one of a kind HEAVY Metal sound I'd plug in the hair clipper pick-up, p.s. where it's bolted on., makes a Big difference too : )
