DIY Fret press

Just a simple fret press setup made from scrape in the shop. 1/2" threaded rod with the end filed to shape. • Southern Ray ......... I made a few mods to it since I posted these pics. I added a metal plate over the nuts just to reinforce them so they won't push out over time and made a heavier angle plate to connect the threaded rod. I will post some pics of it so you can see what I did ;-)
  • Really cool, Rooster. I have neither type of press, so I could use something like this.

    Thank you.
  • A lot of people modify arbor presses for this or use their drill press. But you really don't need that much pressure to set a fret into wood. And if you are gluing your frets you can keep pressure on it with this and not have to hold it down ;-)
  • Thank you very much for this. Another project I've been hoping to do. There is a lot in this series of photos I can use.

    Cheers!
