Thanks. I counter-bored from the outside with a 3/4" forstner bit and left about 1/4" of wood to attach the jack into from the inside. I try to avoid 'jack-plates' when I can. This also tends to hide the jack a little in the end of the box. I also use the good jacks from Gitty which have threads that are a little longer than the usual jacks. I made this saddle from a piece of 1/4" plexi-glass or lexan with a 1/8" brass rod epoxied onto it. I like the lexan best as it is very resistant to cracking and very easy to work. I cut it on a bandsaw then file the edges, sand the edges then buff lightly with a 3m nylon wheel. sanding down to a fine grit is really all that's needed.
Nice build. I'm building a guitar with this box and ran into a roadblock when trying the install the jack. Sides are too thick for jack. How did you install your jack? I didn't see any photos. Also, do you mind sharing how you made saddle? Thanks ....
