  I'm a newb at this but it shouldn't really matter as long as the "break" at the nut as the string enters the fret board is clean. 

  I've made a few nuts out of whitetail deer antler and the smell just gets to me.  I can't deal with that.....

  Action is good, intonation is good, sound is great! Working with bone is tedious but worth it for the tone...

  This is my first attempt at a bone nut and I have a question... Should I slot the nut at the same angle the strings deflect to the tuners like this or should the slots be straight?
