The original headstock shape was too angular and small to match the box and style so I made a "flourish" out of an old mirror support I got from the trash and used Jacobean stain on it to match the rosewood sound hole. Since I had applied poly to the neck on the original build, I was able to sand the gluing surface and glue the flourish on before applying the oil stain. That way I could make sure to have a strong glue joint AND not have to worry about the stain affecting the original head!
