I stopped burning wood a few years ago but when I was I'd get stuff like this too. I kick my self for burning some quilted maple I had once. I tore apart the wood pile trying to find some bits I may have missed, but no luck. I also had some black cherry fire wood that had more birds eye in it than I've ever seen before, gone too.
