Happens with some woods. It happened to me while routing an edge in some pine. The router snapped off a huge piece and threw it more than half way across the garage! Almost gave me brown pants when it went off...
Thanks! But I would never use a redwood box again. Use hardwood or make one. My cheap-o box cracked in half while I was building the guitar.
