3 String Fretted CBG with flatpup

I finished this last weekend and can't stop playing it. Took it out to play at an open mic last night.I made it as a back up for the one I made a while back with a "Belinda" cigar box, which I use a lot busking. I suddenly thought I'd be lost if something happened to it!This one is better though, so I'm now thinking I need to make a back up for this!!The scale length is 24" The string height is just under 1mm at the 1st fret (from the top of the fret to the bottom of the string) and just under 3mm at the 12th fret. It's a great all rounder. The strings are D'addario XL Chromes 24,16 and 12 gauge.I got the box from eBay. It arrived quite battered and twisted, with the varnish bubbled up. I sanded off the varnish and got it repaired. The neck is sapele. It has a flatpup from Elmar which sounds beautiful.I also added a disc piezo as it's sometimes good to have that basic scratchy lo fi sound for some things...and it's good if I want to do some tapping on the box to loop.

  • thanks tdq. I lplay it so much, I'm now thinking I need to build another as a back up. Those Cohiba boxes are going for quite a lot now on ebay though!!
