This photo shows a two string cigar box guitar featuring strings consisting of packaging twine. The tuners are composed of eyebolts, nuts, wing nuts and washers. I substituted a smaller dowel for the top one in this photo. One of the strings kept slipping off the "nut". The change around proved to be the solution to a problem with sound quality.
