Anyone else using Mahogany from Menards for building necks? I've not had any specific problems, but I'm used to working with Oak, and the Mahogany is very light, open grained, and super easy to work with. Makes me wonder if it will hold up as well
Generally when I build a 4 String, I put a steel bar in the neck, back-fill with epoxy, and top with a fretboard. What do folks think about using Liquid Nails instead of epoxy for this? I'm curious if anyone has tried it and if it would be stable,
I want to take a stab at making a reso cover. I see Lowes/Home Depot carry 6X24" sheets of steel or aluminum. For those of you that have done this ... would either work, or should I stick with steel? I want to drill many holes in them, and pound them
I want to totally refinish a nice box, and need to remove the hinges. I'm assuming I just pry them off with a pocket knife or thin putty knife. Any suggestions? I don't want to screw up the box, and want to reuse the hinges.
I've used a volume pot on my last 2 builds. In both cases, I get a slight buzz/hum in the background at all levels except high. Once I crank up the volume, it goes away (without playing strings).
Any thoughts?
