I thought this would be a good place to post these photos. This is a newly made one-string. I used what are considered tone woods for the entire project: maple neck, maple resonator box, Indian rosewood finger board, ebony and bone bridge, bone nut.…
Read more…Hi, all. I was hoping those who perform live have some words or guidance on what type of sound components you use. I'll be playing in a gallery next month, and the gallery will not be providing amps, mics, etc. To be clear, I will be playing…
Read more…Since I discovered the world of homemade guitars, I've been struggling a bit with what is the best tuning for a cigar box guitar. I've tried various open tunings, but they seem very limiting, for myself of course. I've finally gravitated to…

Dane don't get drawn in by Wayfinder, he doesn't play well with others. It wasn't too long ago when he did the same thing ( dominate everything) and got into heated arguements with other members and then cleared out all of his post, and withdrew from CBN. Now he's back and it hasn't taken long for him to start again. Let it go and let him talk to himself for awhile.

Hi Dane: It's not an original design...Vox guitars made several teardrop guitars back in the 60's. I made this similar to one I used to have. It was called a Vox Mark XII....obviously a 12 string. This one however is smaller overall. Body is made from 2 pieces of Poplar sandwiched together and it is a solid body. The neck is oak and the fretboard is poplar that I stained black and gave it sort of a distressed look. I used some green paint that I thinned way down to stain the wood. Then I used a can of flat black spray paint to paint the back and around the edges on the front. Then I gave it about 5 coats of poly. The one volume is for the neck pickup and the other for the bridge. You can blend the two anyway you choose. Tone affects both pickups. It is a Flat top. Hope I answered all your questions. Thanks for the comments.
