I like the insides of the picture that heads this forum. It seems that a real attempt has been made to get the best sound out of his box (that suits him!)
I was wondering if the guitar theory of bars and bracing really applies to CBGs?

I have been using Tabledit (a commercial tablature editor/creator/player) for many years as it has been great when making odd musical intruments as i do as a hobby. I know it "costs" but I like it.
Anyway, I have been searching around for ukulele ta
I see a few of you have made bass ukes but some ideas of the specs for such an instrument would be good. I have an idea i would not want to amp it! (Willing to change my mind) I have whipper snipper chord for strings. Probably not an upright model,
In fact to start with a definition would be in order.
They seem mostly to have 1 string but 2 strings are not unknown.
Some seem to be played by "striking/drumming" some by strumming/picking.
The bottle is almost part of it.

In a few of my articles i have just "used" pictures from the CBG album. I just download interesting pictures and then when i come to identify whose pic it was it becomes an almost impossible task (There are "zillions of pictures up there) When i down
I have just dug deep in my cupboards and found these aids to fret activities.
1. I have found a sharp knife the best for scribing fret positions
2. This is a circle cutter. A block of wood, holes drilled for radius that will fit handy nail to act as
The Nation keeps all the photos and videos which members upload, but i cant find a similar "store" for the audio files that are uploaded.
Can some kind person point me to where I can listen to them i.e. more than the 20 available at any on time?

I am new to this wonderful world of CBGs. I have a "very" traditional background. Having experimented I have decided that i like: "3" strings/fretted/slide. So I am learning to play with that set up.
I find the slide wobbles all over the place (rocks
I should probably post this to another forum but I like "three strings" it has "all" the experts and few duds like me.

You guys know that i like to write "articles" about CBGs. Probably for my own enjoyment and to bore most of you.
I wanted to do some sort of a survey about the features of the oldest CBGs; Like how many had sound holes, how many strings etc. I though
I just put together this list. Yes it is not all for building/plans etc but it could be useful.
Members could build upon it.

I have been given the opportunity to have a small valve amplifier made for me but the maker needs the answer to two questions before he starts the design process.

Though i have been instrument making for many years in a different field to CBGs, I am amazed at the paucity of articles about CBGs, both in general and specific. Even the plans that are on the net are not madly easy to follow for a newcomer. You hav
I have never ever seen a "real life" CBG. Just pictures. For the most part they are of the CBG over all and very fine creations at that.
I have had tantalizing glimpses of the "inside" of the boxes and they appear to have a variety of configurations,
I have a programme called Moyea. It works on the videos you guys post occasioanlly, but what programme can I get to download all them (at least the ones I want).
I use Firefox as my browser.
I am a bit confused with the High, Low tuning compared to the string lengths of the CBG and the string gauge to use.
I realize that there are no rules for string lengths, but is there such a thing as "rule of thumb" for these things.
I am making my
