music store sales of your instruments

if you find a local music store that is willing to put your instruments in their store,i cannot stress enough, how important it is to have great folks that will work with you. this is the first thing i learned in this experience, the character quality of the folks you have to deal with makes a huge difference on how well all your dealings will proceed to the best of the outcome of the sales you can make.if there are any questions i can answer for anyone interested in this outlet,i will be glad to answer them. one other thing i should mention is my method of this experience is to let the instrument sales take their course and check in with the music store from time to time.i call to check in once in a while and seems like more times than not when i go in to visit,i leave there with money. i was able to start by bringing in 10 guitars, and as they sell, i replace them with others so the items i have draw more attention as new guitars come in. the terms we have are---i give a set price that i expect to receive for each guitar and that is documented, then they take it from there and do their magic and i just check in from time to time to see how things are going. i am always told that their customers that have music interest all love the cbg,s and some can play them as often as they like and the interest in the cbg,s has helped them with other sales of their own.i hope folks in this group can learn from any info i can contribute.once again if anyone has specif questions i can answer i will be glad to answer them.

  • I agree, Their is nothing better than to get your hands on an instrument to get to know the sound and feel.

I have just started to put instruments in shops, will find out how well they do eventualy.

  • Mine have always sold really quickly when I put them in a guitar store. I guess it all depends, are they better in person where a buyer can hear it, feel it, etc or are they better sold with just a few photos on the Internet somewhere?
  • It doesn't seem cdg's do so hot on ebay? I have trouble with transportation these days. Any other websites good for selling? Thank you for adding this discussion.  :)

  • So, ebay or not to ebay? That is my question.....

  • Thats good info.  I have put a few in a couple of shops with not much success. Both shops just hung the CBG's on the wall and let them sell themselves.  The few that did sell went to professional musicians who liked the different sound. They don't sell themselves. Lesson learned.
