Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. Father of two boys, ages 10 and 8. Recently they started guitar lessons and mandolin lessons. I have been learning as they go and recently found out about cigar box guitars. I like to tinker and I love the sound that you guys are getting out of them so I figured I would give it a try. I have a a few old cigar boxes that were my grandfathers so here goes nothing. Look forward to learning from everyone one here.

All I can say is jump in ang have som fun with it! You will learn so much with your first built you will be planning your second one before it is complete!
that sounds great.,i just bought one and i do play the bass guitar but its totally different.I'm tinkering around with it and starting to figure it out though.my 9 yr old also started guitar lessons last week, its real interesting to learn these different instruments but i find the older i get the harder it is to learn new things ,hey thanks for stopping in let me know how your cbg project turns out.
Welcome, I'm relatively new to all this myself and have learned and enjoyed much from this meeting place. I'm on box #18, a diddly bow with 2 strings. I make my own boxes or find very interesting old boxes other than cigar boxes. Don't know why I don't use cigar boxes, guess I just haven't tried yet. I like beautiful wood and building boxes and shaping necks. I've been into electric boxes which is different for me. I've been an acoustic player before. It seems to be a strong part of this revolution, to amp up. I've got just little amps, but have enjoyed finding vintage inexpensive pickups on ebay. I like wiring them up too, learned mostly from you tube and this place. I've got grandchildren to supply with musical instruments. 6 of them.
