Hi everybody. My name is Daniel Ruiz and I'm from Monterrey in Mexico. I can't remember when was the first time I saw your web site but i have been a follower scince. About two years ago i found an old cigar box in my home that I was going to use for storage. After i saw your site i decided to make a CBG and after much reading now it's finally ready. I still can´t play, but the damn things sure are fun to build. I already have most of the parts for my second one except a great box and patience from my wife! I'll keep you posted, I´ll upload the pictures as soon as I can.

Patient wives are always a plus. My project actually began when my wife quit her job and became super-mom. Her only problem seems to be that the dining room table has become my work bench.
+1 on the whole gratifying and relaxing thing.
You've got it made John! If you can get away with using the dining table as a workbench you can get away with anything!
Welcome Daniel, I had an inlaw that got me started with this bug. I built 3 3 stringers right out of the gate and couldn't play a lick. I hammer at it and and it isn't sounding like somebody stepped on the cats tail like it did from the start. Have fun, much of the fun is reading the archives of Q&A from other people. Sometime it will help you solve a problem you had no idea you had.
When I started seriously building CBGs about 5 or 6 yrs ago I was having a blast just building them and then I realized these instruments had a great sound. Since I was not a guitar player at that time I decided that I would learn at least 1 song on each new CBG before building another. The enjoyment I get out of them now has increased 10 fold!
Keep building and have fun!
Chuck
Welcome Daniel. Lots of great supportive people here. Look forward to seeing the pictures. By the way, there are as many patient wives as there are builders here.
Thank you Scott, she's patient she just doesn't know it....
