*Very* decent quality, 5/16" thick solid cedar top. Sounds nice on my box tester, good volume, wonder if dishing out the back 1/16" or 1/8" would make it louder?

Hmmm. Normally, we're trying to get soundboards as thin as possible, so they resonate better ( just thinking my way through this out loud). It would seem to me that to drive a thicker soundboard to resonance, you'd need either lower frequencies provided by a longer scale length, and / or thicker strings. Tuning 'em down might also help.
Have to dig into this some more. Might not matter if you were going to install a pup; but I think it would matter if you were going full acoustic.
Not exactly sure what you mean - effects on what? The resonance and perceived loudness of the box, the top? Do you mean dropping the tuning of one string, or all 3 (or 4, or 6)?

Tell me more about the "Box Tester".....
Seems like you could use a tuning fork and get some similar results.
There are a couple other threads on CBN about such box testers. Here's two links: link1 and link2.
