I think I put this question in the wrong place.
I've made seven or eight three and four string CBG's without a truss rod. Now I want to make a six string. I will use quartersawn white oak for the neck. Is it necessary to put a truss rod in it?

There are double action truss rods which require only a simple, straight groove later covered by the fretboard. I fyou have a router at hand, why not? With six strings I'd go for it.
