Sealed tuner question.

Hello.

First post from a real newbie. Just starting to build first CBG and purchased the 'Mocha Pearloid Gold sealed tuners from C.B. Gitty. (#31-072-010)

I'm obviously missing the obvious .... but I don't get how the tuning key takes up the slack of the string. I did a test installation in some scrap wood, when I turn the tuner key, the bushing with the little hole for the string does not turn. The key just spins without any reaction from any other tuner part. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say here ..

I've been hesitant to ask as it should probably be self explanatory .... but I'm not seeing it. If you could help, thank you so much!

  • Hey Derreck--the bushing doesn't turn. Its job primarily is to hold the pin in place, and look nice. The pin turns. The pin should have a hole towards the end to accommodate the string. There are You Tube vids showing details on stringing a guitar which will help. Welcome to the addiction!!
    • oh wow ..... I truly did miss the obvious!

      thank you for your responses.

  • That sounds like it might be a faulty tuner. Typically it need 14-18 turns of the knob to turn the  string post 1 revolution.
