Hello all.
I want to build the pure and simple guitar. The one with the neck on top of the box.
My question is. Is there a measurement for the flying bridge? Does it have to be a certain place from the end of the neck?
Thanks.
Bill

I suppose you could use a flatpup style, it only sticks up 1/4”
I'll check it out.
I want to build this next - anyone used any other pickups other than piezo's?
Here's my take. It's a 25" scale fretless. FWIW the bridge is slotted for the strings. The high G's is the deepest, the low G's is the shallowest. Which helps with the intonation. Unfortunately those round, deep tins are a little awkward to hold/play, but it was a quick, easy build. The fret markers are just shallow saw kerfs that end up soaking up more stain.
Not sure about the measurement or size of the flying bridge but I'd suggest above the width of the neck and some above the depth of the neck, depending on whether you want to fret the guitar.
Distance from the box edge I couldn't say but for resonance I'd suggest (guess) one-third in from the heel end? That would be my guess anyway.
Enjoy the build! :o)
If you're making a slide guitar, scale length is all that matters I terms of finding notes. If you're planning a fretted neck, string height is a factor as well
Which are you building?
