Any comments, experience, advice?
Do you use under-coat? and what kind was end result ? was paint crackling maybe?

Then add several coats of car filler/primer high build spray and sand.
Then several coats of normal car primer and sand well.
Spray a guide coat of a dark colour, sand back reprime, resand, re-guide coat etc until you are flatting back all the guide coat without blowing through all the primer.
Then consider your chrome paint. It will probably come up like high gloss silver than real chrome though.
But you do need the surface to be as blemish free as possible before you chrome paint as it will show up every little dink and scratch.
