Hey Guyz'n'Galz,
For my 3rd build I wanna shape the neck.
I have a decent length of mahogany 2"x1" (so in the real world that's 1.75"x0.75")
My question is, after I cut the full length I need, do I cut a length roughly the length from nut to box and glue it the the underside of where the fingerboard will be and start shaping that?
That would mean I'd have 1.5" to shape.
I'm worried if I shape it with just the 0.75" it will be too weak?
Hope that makes some sort of sense?
Cheers,
Col \m/

HI Col. Have a look at this blog series I did, which shows the process I use for building necks. There are 3 parts and each subsequent part is linked at the end.

Considering the lower string tension common in CBGs, I would expect a 1-1/2 by 3/4 piece of mahogany plenty strong enough for a neck.
