My strings are too short!

Was just getting all ready to string my 3-string CBG up tonight only to find that the middle string going to the upper-most machine head is too short!  The other two to the nearer machine heads are fine, just.

The string length is 75cm from where they attach at the heel to the nut and 89cm to the upper-most machine head.

Do any manufacturers make longer scale acoustic guitar strings that would suit my purposes?

  • Remeber that most guitar stores sell singles. Maybe 1 or 2 $$$ , but you can size it without sacrificing the set....

Yeah, they're new. They were the cheapest acoustic guitar strings that the shop had in which might explain why they are bit short. I might just pop down my local music shop on Saturday and take the CBG with to make sure that I get some that fit.

  • 89cm from tailpiece to tuner doesn't seem overly long ... I just measured the longest string on the build nearest me, it's 87cm and I cut off loads of excess after tuning.

    Are you using new strings?
