Intructions for New Builders- Gittyman Manual

I recently completed building my first CBG. I'm not a woodworker and my carpentry skills are perhaps not the best. I had very low expectations and I assumed I'd screw it up and it would wind in the recycle bin. Before I started, I was surfing the Internet and I came across a site by Mordacai Bondurant offering a very reasonably priced manual called the Gittyman Manual. I figured what the heck so I ordered it.

The manual explained where to get cheap tools and provided very detailed step by step instructions that even a complete amateur like myself could understand. Guess what ? My first attempt did NOT wind up in the recycle bin and now I'm hooked as a builder. I can thank Mordacai for my success. Had it not come out so well, I would have lost interest.

If I've posted this in the wrong place, sorry. I'm new to the Nation.

    • really decorative way to display. but how are they strung up? i am thinking not by any of the tuners.

    • It's strung up with tuners I bought from CB Gitty

    • Really nice looking CBGs, Ape....I especially like the one with the cowskull....how did you get that design on there?

    • I downloaded a skull drawing from Google images tweaked it a little and transferred the image onto the box (carbon paper) then used a dremel with a diamond bit to carve it. finished it off with a gold paint pen from Staples. A couple coats of satin and there you go. It sounds great the pickup is from CBGitty's . As far as hanging them its just some old jute craft rope i found and tied in a loop and put behind the neck and around the tuners, nothing special.

  • I have purchased a few CBG building instruction manuals in CD, DVD and PDF form. I found all of them to be top notch and this manual from Mordacai is no acception and is a must for every first time builder or builder with a few CBG's builds under their belt. What is real nice is there is no wait and Mordacai follows up with information that may have been missed in your search for answers.

Have a great time building and playing!!!!

  • There are dozens of us on here, Ken, who also use Mordacai's book.  The web site is www.GittyMan.com
