  • hey. so i just built my first cbg...i made it a resonator by using two cans. i am just about to go out to the shed, to set it together and test it for the first time :D
what i found out is that you shouldn't worry too much about soundwells if using cans, just make sure whatever you use as cone is able to vibrate/resonate freely.
i still have an unsolved question, as to where place the piezos? i am thinking of combining two piezos and packing them in to sandwiched wood and using them as biscuits... not sure yet. if you have any suggestions, would be appreciated.
    cheers
  • Hi alan i have those same compulsions upon entering such shops, all i can think about is Mmmm... that would make a nice bridge or just lately eyeing up pots and pans!!!!!!!!!!
So panic ye not you are not alone......
Im thinkin about some kinda storm drain or sumfink similar as a cover, i might even dish my own medieval style.
Ive seen a nice brass one which is made by mike lowe of this glorious gathering, he is in partnership with smokehouse guitars, you must check this out as im getting very close to dribblin all over my keyboard..........
Also check out bairfoot cajun's reso's as he uses these cones and that geezer can build sum mean lookin guit's
Great vids on youtube fella. let me know how thangs are progressing as this will be my 4th build and im lovin every minute of this obsession....kirst

Umm... yes. Those are piezos. I might order some.
But do you know where we can get resonator supplies?

  • Just now got back from checking out a 24-hour grocery store for material (note to self -- you have to grow up SOMEDAY. Maybe not today). In the "Kitchen supplies" section they had drip pans for stoves that looked promising -- light-weight and CHEAP. Alas, the smallest of them was still 7.5" across, and even the biggest box I have isn't quite that big. I could easily build a box AROUND such a thing, but would't that break a fundamental rule of the CBNation? Or are there, in fact, NO rules?
I'm off tomorrow to a hardware store. It seems to me I might be able to find a cheap shop lamp with a reflector that could do the job...
  • Ooh, ooh! I was going to start this discussion, but you beat me to it.

Good youtube videos I have found:
