Fret wire size for Ukulele

I am going to order some supplies for upcoming projects and wanted to get some fret wire for a Ukulele but didn't know what size I should go with.  I am ordering other stuff from stewmac so I will probably go ahead and add it to that order.  I use the narrow medium for dulcimers and medium medium for 4 strings.  My commercial uke has fret wire that looks even smaller than what I use on my dulci builds so I am tempted to go with the narrow low or stay with the narrow medium.  Any opinions of the size of fretwire to use on a Ukulele?

  • Thanks for all the info. I already have 4 types of fret wire so adding a few more to the collection if for nothing else but experimentation and reference can't be a bad idea for a few bucks a stick.
  • I guess iy depends on the scale of the instrument. I have built a tenor ukulele and I am currntly building my 3rd baritone ukulele and I used narrow, small fretwire (I guess tenor banjo size) and these have been ideal for my builds.

  • Not to contradict, but I always go with the medium high. You should consider ordering a variety to see what you like best.
  • I'd definately go with narrow low.
