Hi Gang,
I have been lurking for some time. I'm getting ready to buld a ukulele for the 5 year old daughter. Can anyone reccomend any good plans? The ones I have found so far are very old and don't have a lot of detail.
Thanks

Finding a set of good plans with the proper measurements and steps is like grouse hunting -- lots of walking and looking through thickets to find a small bird you could have bought at the store. I did the same thing, lots of searching and sifting for a real set of plans with dimensions. Check these out:

Also some design considerations for scale length and neck size at this page:

Ditto to the above..
Post what ideas you have and we can help with any questions..
as they say, "just do it"
good luck..
I have loads of plans for traditional ukuleles, but I think you're looking for a Cigar Box Uke, right? That being the case all you need to do is attach a suitable neck to the box, add a bridge and string her up. But here's some free soprano plans from Grellier: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.grellier.fr/news/uku...
A soprano would be great for your 5-year-old girl, but you might find a tenor easier to hold.
