Just seen these on Ebay and wondering if anyone has used anything like it. Think it would look nicer than some guitar preamp setups I've seen as its just got a volume and tone pot instead if those EQ looking setups I've seen. Also the size of the pickup is spot on for going under a 3 or 4 string bridge. Not a bad price either :-)

I'd like to know how these work out too! The best thing about it is it has a phones output too. I've been getting good results with large discs (35mm) thru a Tillman preamp circuit I build on perfboard then on to vol and tone.
I dont know about the violin pick ups but I have found a great pick up. Look inside a Emerson phone handset and there is a pickup in there about the size of a silver dollar and boy does it work! I find these phones a yard sales and flea markets for about a dollar or less.
I didnt get it at first, but after a day of considering it......
If you put a strip of hardwood/bone/plastic/metal (whatever you prefer) on it in place of the violin bridge you might have something. I even envisioned a custom fit compensated piece. Could work.
Once you get it would you please be so kind as to post the dimensions (widthXlength) of the "pocket" where the bridge piece would sit, and the height of the base for potential planning?
I picture it with a piece of say 3/16" square strip, maybe just rounded off on top might work quite well!
