Hi everyone - I am trying to get a 4-string CBG ready to ship to Australia for a buyer and am having an issue with the piezo throwing back too much feedback. Funny/strange thing is that I have another piezo the same size installed in another cbg in the exact same location (hot glued into the neck inside the body because that's where I like 'em) and I can sit right next to the amp without getting any feedback -- and that's also with a lot of distortion. HELP?!?!? The wiring looks fine and tests out just fine when I plug it into the amp without it being attached to the guitar..... On another note - I did a cool and funky sort of thing with a comparison of the 27mm piezos that I normally use and the larger 43mm ones that a few people are selling here. I hooked up BOTH piezos but did separate 1/4 jacks for each of them in the same guitar. One jack in the normal lower rear and one on the bottom side of the guitar. Then I plugged my Peavy Classic 30 tube amp into one jack and my Fishman Solo acoustic amp into the other and turned both amps on. Wow! I was feakin' blown away by the sound. I was using some effects through my ME-50 board on the tube amp, and running the Fishman Solo clean and the balance that I heard was like nothing I've ever heard from a piezo. The range was awesome. I will try to do some video of it when my brother is here next week visiting - he is better at video than I am. I recommend trying this experiment if you have both types of amp. Oh, and the 43mm sounds louder and a bit sharper/more treble in my humble opinion. In the end, I still like it more than the 27mm, but it also has some advantages and the box and neck sounds that you can get from piezos were muted with that smaller piezo. any help will be much appreciated!

  • Nevermind. I caught some folks in chat this morning and they advised throwing more hot glue at it and insulating it more and although I thought I had applied more than enough to get the job done in the first place, the additional hot glue worked. It has still has some feedback with a lot of overdrive, but other forms of distortion don't seem to phase it. I also plugged it into my Pod XT and was able to use all but some of the heavy metal setting on it as I flipped through the amp/sound choices. It sounds fabulous on the tweed, jazz, and the clean effects channels.
