Mag pup, piezo, 3 way switch & jack
How about a wiring diagram for a flatpup magnetic pickup, a piezo disk, a 3-way switch, and a jack? My guitar builder is stumped by this one.
I would like a diagram for the C B Gitty item 50-077-01 this is a pickup selector with volume, tone, and 3 way switch with three wires, black, white, and red. Do you have any diagrams handy?

so, I wonder how to wire 2 piezo discs to volume and tone pots.
found all kind of opinions and speculations - that i should go with active preamp, that i should forget about the tone, that i should add all kinds of capasitors and resistors.
any simple diagram? again, 2 piezo discs, volume pot, tone pot.
Thanks!
Thank you Ted...I appreciate it.
Hi Ted: Hope you'll be able to enlighten me. Maybe you have one of these diagrams out there and I missed it. I have a one mag pickup, tone and volume config on a CBG. Is there a way to put a peizo in there and just be able to add a toggle switch that will switch me back and forth from mag to peizo?
Thanks, Tm
Not really Tim, a toggle will only let you switch on/off one pup, with both mag and piezo you need independent volume controls to be able to play thru both and hear the piezo. In theory you can activate the piezo (without volume) with a toggle and crank the mag volume down to hear both. But if you use a 3 way switch and 2 volume controls instead of a toggle you can play thru one or the other or both. I recommend using volume for both pups because of the huge difference in output so you can get a good balance when played together. This wiring diagram is how I do it:
Or you can use a blend pot instead of a 3 way:
Or go without a switch and both out to the jack (I don't like this, I like to be able to remove the piezo from the circuit, more than just turning piezo volume to zero):
Good Luck!
Ted, I am trying to wire my first electric guitar and am using Snake oil Humbuckers from Gitty. They only have a single wire with what I assume is a hot wire and a braided ground wrap. Would I just use the 2 pickup each with a tone and volume pot, 3 way switch and jack schematic for this. Thanks, John
Correct John - hot wire and braided ground. I would use the 2 vol/tone/3 way diagram.
