securing a wiring harness?

One for the "Stupid Mistakes" list...
I just took my new stick out of the clamps after the glue dried, and when I picked it up it rattled like a baby rattle. I had installed peizo pickups before gluing the soundboards down, and the wiring harness was too long, and a loose loop of wire was rattling around inside...very noisy... <Sigh>

Since my method of using electrical tape clearly has it's issues, how do you keep the wiring from rattling around inside an Acoustic/Piezoelectric hollow body?

  • A dab of hot glue will do it.  Is there an access panel or a sound hole where you can get to the wire.  If it's not easy to get to it, you may be able to bend a coat hanger with a glob of epoxy or duct tape on the end of it and try your luck that way.  Good luck!

  • I've stuck the wires down using silicone adhesive with good results. Duck tape would probably work well too.
