Rod Piezo wiring

okay, so i looked around for a while, and haven't really found an answer, so i'll ask it here before experimenting.

i just got 2 of the piezo rods from cbgitty.  they are not the solderless kind.

Rod Piezo Acoustic Instrument Pickup

i cut the plug off, and inside the cord is one wire.  this is the first time i've used these instead of the piezo disc.  how do i solder it to my 1/4" jack?  every other piezo i've used has a black and red wire.

i like the sound of these things a lot.  now i just want to get hum-less installation down!

  • thanks to everyone for the help.  i really love these things, now that i can get them wired up in a snap.

and the cut off jack ends to these are perfect for using with any eq that accepts 1/16" input.  i've used every one i've snipped off in amps!

  • You're welcome!  The braided wire acts as shielding to reduce or eliminate interference buzz.  Be sure to solder your jack directly to it.  Let us know how it sounds!
  • that was my initial hunch, Thank you very much for confirming it!

  • The exterior braided cover is the other wire (I believe it's the ground, or "black" wire), solder to that.
