Ok, one more question. I cut it and the end crimp was cut off. It appears there are two parts to the metal encased piezo. The braided wire splits off to a square rod and to a 3 sided square cover. What's that all about? Can I just use the square rod without the cover? Can I just use the plastic coated, braided wire under ths saddle?
As I understand it Mal, some you can cut, come you cant. Recommendations from some resonator cone makers/sellers is to secure a piezo contact pickup at the bottom of the cone (insuring "right" side up ???), preferably with some silicone adhesive to reduce harshness.
I think Red Dog is one of them. May be an option if the piezo rod doesn't work out.

I simply cut rod piezos with a pair of sharp side cutters. Haven't had one fail yet.
