just wondering if i use 2-single p/u's, one with north pole's to the string's and one with south pole's to the string's, placed as close to each other as possible, wired in series, would it be a humbucker, ?

yes thats a humbucker. Assuming reverse wound, as well as reverse polarity. It wouldn't sound like the 2 and 4 positions on a strat though, which are hum cancelling too, because you're wiring in series, where the strat is wired in parallel when you have 2 pups selected. It would have more power together in series than wiring in parallel.
You know you can do a parallel/series/one coil wiring with just a mini on/on/on switch too - there's a schematic on seymourduncans site and stewmac and others. Gives you options?
Cool yah that's good. Have you looked at guitar fetish they have good sales on humbuckers for your next build. I was really happy with the zebra humbuckers I got from them nice and loud and cheap. Just how I like it LOL
that what i intended using, strat middle+neck or bridge, i did'nt mean have one p/u upside down, did'nt explain it very well, just thought i'd use up a few single p/u's i've got, save buying a humbucker, cheer's,,
Well yes and no. On a strat the middle is revesed wound and switched pole so combined with either the neck or bridge pickup it takes out the hum making it a humbucker in a since. You could use tow single coils to get the same thing just make it a neck pickup and middle pickup wired like a strat in the 4th position on a 5 way switch. I always look up the wiring diagram to get it right on the net. Hope this helps you out or gets you in the right direction. Keep jamming
