First "cello" build

Hi Everyone! Greetings from St. Louis. This is my first attempt at a cello. Basically are large version of the violin plans that I have but a little more challenging! Basswood body with Spruce top. A lot of lessons were learned with this one. Sorry about the headless photo, it's pretty much a bass guitar head.

  • Here's the headstock. lots of screws used as string trees. Might clean it up later but I really wanted to hear what it sounded like.

  • Thanks Gents. Rusty, I picked up a tailpiece and nut from a junked cello in the back of a local shop. The guy just gave them to me. Sweet! Donny, The box is just 4 pieces of hobby basswood reinforced with dowel rods. I cut the top from a dulcimer soundboard. I'll see if I can get that headstock next time.

  • Looks great- what is the box from? And can you upload a pic of the headstock?
  • It's there.   I just had to click on the image jpg.  Jaber, that looks great!

  • The photo worked just fine for me. Looks great! What are you using at the tail end of the box for it to stand up on? Hard to tell what that is in the photo.

  • Sounds interesting.  I can not see a photo.

    • Bummer. I thought I attached it. I'm new at this stuff.
