Greetings from Port Hope, Ontario

My name is Mark Noel and i have just begun my CBG journey. I am in the middle of my first fretless build and can't wait to finish so i can hone my slide chops on her.

I see they have quite a few festivals organized in the US for CBG's and would love to see us Canucks get some going. Drop me a line on where you are and maybe we can get a group together in Ontario to jam and share trade secrets. Cheers!

  • Well, here's some news that's close to Port Hope....

Shelter Valley Folk Festival has accepted my application to the Artists Village at the festival coming up on Labour Day Weekend. I'll be hawking my wares and possibly hosting a workshop as well. Shelter Valley isn't far from Port Hope, maybe 20 minutes or less.

Slow Lane Music recently completed our 26th build and is gonna keep me plenty busy through the summer building up inventory to sell at the festival.

  • Come to my show in Toronto Thursday night April 10th!
  • Hi Mark,

I am in Scarborough... CBG's are definitely gaining popularity in Southern Ontario. There were three vendors selling them at the Mariposa Folk Festival last year. Just last night I took my latest build to the local Long & McQuade store where my daughter works and it got a lot of attention when I plugged it in to see what it would do hooked up to a hefty Marshall amp.

Here's a video clip of one of the staff at the store taking it for a spin:

    Keep warm!

    • That sounz real sweet!!!

  • Hello from Prince Edward County!

  • Hey, I would be satisfied if the first one was just us CBG enthusiasts getting together to swap stories, tips and check out each others Gitty. I'm a patient man and can wait for the Canadian wave to build.
    • Sounds like a great time Jawbone. Have a blast!
    • Hey - We're unstoppable Baby - a regular tsunami!!!!!
I'm actually heading down to The Bean Blossom Blues Fest next week - It's a harmonica centred festival. Tons of jamming, commraderie, etc. It's a 12 hour drive but it's worth it.
That's the sort of thing I'd like to get started up here but like pick says it would start small.
PS - I'll be taking my CBG's down and playing on the main stage with the Cabin 12 Jam Band.

    • sweet  ..

  • the  only   tip  i  can  add   is   , ....  due to the  fact that there    is no   huge  following  in  Canada  for  cbgs ,   in  one concentrated area    ..    a cbg fest  is bound to  fail  at  the start  ..  ..

what  you   must  do  is  hold  a  "blues"  fest  ... or  some  similar  title   and  piggyback  the cbg  theme  in   like  a  trogan  horse  ;-)

     then   let  it  spread  .

    just my opinion  ;-)
