I was wanting to wire in a volume and tone control, I have bought the basic pots, but have not bought a pickup.
I have looked at some humbackers (sp) on e bay. their is a few with 2 pickups for a aforadable price. Would this be a bad idea to try this for a first go?
If it is what would be better. My thinking they would give a better sound than a piezo. Cheers Ron.

Hi Ron,
It depends what you want humbuckers/single coils/piezo are all personal preferences and if you check out the group "CBG wiring & electronics" set up by Andy Stone http://www.cigarboxnation.com/group/cbgwiringelectronics
there are links to the Seymour Duncan and Artec websites for wiring diagrams which are easy to follow. You can always add both types of pickup which I tend to do (because piezo discs are so cheap) so you can have magnetic pickup/piezo/both together sounds - to get an idea of what this sounds like I did a quick video http://www.cigarboxnation.com/video/comparing-cbg-pickups.
To do this you just substitute a piezo for one of the magnetic pickups in the diagram of your choice.
If you really want humbuckers go for it :o)

David
