yet another reso build question

I think I got the reso thing just about figured out, well on paper anyways. But I would like to ask:
 Does the lid/top touch the resonator or does it just go around it really close without touching it.
Now that I asked this I can sleep easy.

    The cover plate does not touch the cone. It protects the cone from damage. In addition, it provides a nice rest for the heel of your hand when playing. Enjoy your build, Keni Lee

    Don't let anything touch the cone. This is the part that vibrates. You'll either choke off the sound or get a nasty buzz.
