  • +1 to Scott's reply .  adding:  Yes it does matter.  If you are using Piezo w/ pre soldered wires, mine come with the red + and black ground.  Red goes to the center (tip) and black to the outer ring.

  • The lead soldered to the piezo's ceramic element goes to the jack positive...that's the tab attached to the long curved-tip arm that engages with the tip of your patch cord when guitar is plugged in. The lead soldered to the piezo's outer brass ring is the negative, and gets soldered to the other tab on output jack. Color of wire makes no difference...you could use a pair of wires with same color sheath if needed, but the above info will make it right.
