Hi. It's 5 am and I'm not usually awake this early, so I'm going to cheat and post the description from my photo of this instrument. I hope that's acceptable. It turned out really nice and I wanted to share.

I had a ruined box (tragic sound hole accident) and a stick of wood that was too good to not use for something. I cast around for ideas and found some nice cream fabric with a gray map pattern. I decided to try it for covering the top of the box, which was otherwise unusable. It turned out great with a nice tone.

  • I've seen a few fabric finished electric guitars but never an acoustic...

Here's a link to a tutorial that is pretty old really:

There are probably other methods as well.

  • Yep we are wondering if it is glued on or just stretched over the box? I"m thinking of trying it but soaking the fabric with crazyglue?

    • I'm sorry I haven't been around. I usedused white glue thinned with water until it was really runny. I brushed it on and stretched the fabric over it.
  • Did you spray something over the top to protect the fabric from dirt? Looks nice.

  • Cool!

I foresee paisley CBGs in the future...

  • cool recovery[groan],Angie

  • Nice looking save! How did you attach the fabric to the wood?
  • That is the core of the CBG movement, making something out of nothing. It is amazing how many times something can be resurrected by allowing yourself to think creatively.

    That turned out good!
