I'm having problems with my thumbnails. Nothing to do with plucking the strings too hard. I am referring to YouTube thumbnails. On the 13th November I uploaded a video to YT and when I posted it to this site using the embedding code there was no thumbnail, just a generic icon. Dan suggested that maybe I had got the embedding code from YT to early before the thumbnail had been created. Yesterday I posted another video here, but actually it had been on YT for a couple of days so plenty of time for the embedding code to be changed if that was what the problem was. Result = no thumbnail again.

Everyone else seems to get thumbnails. I am starting to feel persecuted by YT. Any ideas anyone?

  • I used the embed code from YT (but not the old code).

I searched around and it sounds like YT changed their embed code format, and Ning had not made the necessary changes yet. Can you edit the original code, or did you use the URL instead?

OK. Will do that next time. Thanks for the info. I thought YT had it in for me - what is it they say, "Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me".

  • I posted on Dec. 1 and I didn't notice any problem with thumbnails. Of course, you noticed they are messing around with the page fomat again.

What I noticed is, if you get a comment, and go to your inbox, you no longer can click to be taken to the exact location of the comment. Why fix what isn't broken? Good Luck, Keni Lee

  • After the video has been posted on YouTube, click on the embed button and you should see a check box that says "use old embed code". When you check that box, the embed code changes. Paste that into your post and it should work. I just tested it and it appears to work.
