This is one of the latest creations by Rich Kennedy of Deepseed Guitars.  The double-neck harp cigar box guitar features intricately woodburned and painted scenes of heaven and hell.  Attendees of the PA Cigar Box Guitar Festival got to see this in person.  Yes, there were jaws hitting the floor.  It's really that fantastic of a guitar.

Rich Kennedy is one of those Renaissance men you meet and instantly like. He’s also one of the most fascinating guitar builders I’ve met in a long time.

His Deepseed Guitars is one of the new masters of cigar box guitars-as-art. Deepseed Guitars takes old-world cigar box guitar ideas (wooden box resonators, floating bridges made from bolts) and uses them as a canvas for a new and exciting guitar style.

Just when you thought you couldn't be any more jealous of the guy, Kennedy then picks up his guitars to play.  Once again, jaws hit the floor as he coaxes fingerpicked new age music a'la Michael Hedges and Andy McKee:

Kennedy remarks about this guitar:

I don't have a conventional wood shop - there are no scroll saws, drill presses, or belt sanders in my humble home.

I do have a loving wife, a beautiful little boy, and a passion for what I do with conviction and determination...

  • I second what Oily said. I am interested in what it sells for, I imagine it is already sold.

  • Talent upon talent and then even more talent. Fantastic looking and sounding. Definitely an artist and totally inspiring too.

    • I look over at my few measely cbg efforts and feel like throwing them in the garbage after seeing and hearing such a beautifully created and played instrument. But then I think that all this isn't about 'better'. Its about enjoyment and feelings. Both of which are subjective of course. Mention is made of no fancy apparatus to work with. Natural talent with wood negates the need.I would like to see what tools used givin a mention though. To try out some stuff.
  • That is just way too nice. Fantastic.

  • Stunning!
  • Amazing piece of work. It looks like it's carved!   Sounds great too.
